Welcome
Palazzo Gottardi stands in Strada Nuova, in the heart of the old city centre of Venice, between two wonderful buildings that look down onto the Canal Grande: Ca' d'Oro, the home of the Franchetti Gallery and Ca' Vendramin Calergi, the building that houses the Venezia casino. The relais is in a typical Venetian palace, where you can still feel the authentic atmosphere of the old aristocratic homes. Each detail has been carefully chosen with enthusiasm: the modern and essential design of the communal areas to the Venetian style furniture in the beautiful bedrooms.
The communal areas are decorated with white flat-plastered walls and black ceilings and marble floors. The radiant light of the recessed spotlights in the ceiling washes over the walls, creating light points that highlight the bedroom doors. The room numbers are another detail, written on steel plaques on the floor.
The aesthetic impact created by the play on contrast, is especially pleasant and sophisticated: the dark marble contrasts with the warm wooden floors laid in original Venetian style, and the pure lines din the communal areas contrast with the ornate decorations in the bedrooms.

Where We Are
Palazzo Gottardi stands in Strada Nuova, in the heart of Venice's old city centre, near to many places of artistic interest and easy to reach from the train station and from Piazzale Roma, the places where all cars stop at when coming to Venice.
The relais is an ideal starting point for visiting the most famous artistic and architectural beauties in the city and also it most secret places and mysteries. Just a short distance from Palazzo Gottardi there is one of Venice's most fascinating places: the ancient Jewish Ghetto. There is a favourite place of the Venetians near to the Ghetto, an area full of inns and trattorias where you can try all the best dishes from typical Venetian cooking in all its shapes and forms.
Another characteristic place is the Rialto market that stands at the foot of the famous bridge. It can be reached in just a few minutes on foot or by crossing the Grand Canal in a gondola: The Santa Sofia wharf is just 100 meters from the hotel. For classical itinerary lovers, we recommend two compulsory visits: Piazza San Marco, Italy's most beautiful sitting room and the Church della Salute, a masterpiece by Longhena from where you can see the wonderful view of the San Marco Bay.
